    I've had quite a few New York bagels in my lifetime. And after having an Astoria Bagel a few years ago, I decided that these are my fave. The outside is perfectly crispy and the dough, dense and magically delicious. If you go in the morning, you may be get one fresh out the oven because the turnover is quick. There's always a line, and that's for good reason.

    - They DO NOT SKIMP on the spread!
    - Interior is old school charm, classic NY.
    - Great customer service.
    - Cash only.

    So let's be clear, New York reigns on the Bagel throne. It's the water, those bagels cannot be replicated elsewhere no matter how trained folks are. This spot is in Astoria and I've been spoiled in that my cousin who heads home to visit will bring me bagels from here upon request. But this time, I got to go in person and get my own for my trek back to R.I.

    The owner or perhaps manager is exactly as you'd expect a 'bagel slinger' (not sure of the proper nomenclature) to be. You can tell she has been doing this for quite some time and has had her fair share of years in the service industry- my guess is she doesn't take any crap from customers and you get what you get. She's also very proud and made mention of how far these bagels have travelled across the nation which comes to show how amazing they are.

    People - it's CASH ONLY. Yes that sucks, but just keep a $20 on you at all times for this experience as it's well worth it. My go to is the everything bagel, I just get either a half or full dozen to go. When I toast them to perfection they are crispy and crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside - topped with cream cheese and lox, heaven.

    I don't care what diet plan I may be on at any given time, if my cousin is coming into town or I'm heading in her direction, these bagels are happening. I'll eat lettuce for the remainder of the day!

    Great little bagel shop with plenty of stock. The bagels were fresh and the assortment of cream cheese was great! I went on 2 occasions in my recent visit to the big Apple!

    For the many bagel shops in Astoria. This bagel shop is pretty good. My mom and I came to Ditmars Blvd early in the am and was looking for a bagel shop and found this one. Inside is nice and clean, good customer service and got my bagels pretty fast. The bagels are good and they give a lot of cream cheese so don't worry about that lol.

    Probably the best bagels I've ever had but the owner is just nasty. She has no customer
    Service etiquette. I have never been greeted with a smile, Good Morning, How can I help you?  It's "what do you want?" "What are you having?".
    Don't ask for the bagel to be toasted because she will tell you "they are hot out of the oven". Ok I still want it toasted. I like the bagel toasted it gives it a crunch but she is too lazy and will roll her eyes as she walks to the toaster as she mumbles.

    We asked for 1 of the bagels to be scooped out and as she was doing it she turned around and snapped "you don't have to watch me" we were so caught off guard that she was accusing of us watching her to respond.

    Let's not forget that she sits in the back right corner behind the counter smoking her cigarettes less than 5 steps from the fresh bagels.

    She is the Owner and is always complaining about being tired so maybe it's time she lets her son take over the day to day responsibilities and she stays in the back doing the books. Basically you get the vibe that you are bothering her.  If you're Greek your gold all others go in at your own risk.

    Everyone else who works there is very nice. I can't tolerate her for 5 minutes I can't imagine working side by side with her daily.

    The few tables they have are never clean, there's no air conditioner and it's cash only.

    Again the bagels are the best but you have been warned
